Tem licenciatura em Engenharia Alimentar (ESB-UCP) e doutoramento em Ciência e Engenharia Alimentar na área da Biotecnologia, realizado em meio empresarial, com a Nestlé, na Suíça. Tem uma pós graduação em gestão desenvolvida em colaboração com a COTEC e a North Caroline State University, onde foram desenvolvidas competências no desenvolvimento de ideias de negócio de base tecnológica. Destacam-se colaborações várias com a indústria na área da transferência de tecnologia, e na identificação de oportunidades tecnológicas e de mercado, em parceria com os centros de conhecimento. De 2010 a Março de 2016 desenvolveu trabalhos na área da gestão do conhecimento na PortugalFoods, promovendo parcerias entre o tecido industrial e a academia, pela gestão de um observatório de mercado e I&DT, com objetivos de promoção da inovação, aumento do índice tecnológico e da competitividade das empresas. Após Março 2016 desempenhou funções de direção executiva na PortugalFoods. Atualmente exerce funções na Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

Concluiu o Curso Superior de Nutricionismo em 1980 na Universidade do Porto. Após a criação da licenciatura em Ciências da Nutrição na Universidade do Porto, em 1987, concluiu-a em 1988.
Concluiu o doutoramento em Ciências Biomédicas pela Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa em 2004.
Em 2006 concluiu a habilitação em Nutrição Clínica (provas de agregação) na Faculdade de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação da Universidade do Porto (FCNAUP).
Desde 1983 que exerce funções de docente na FCNAUP. Sempre leccionou na disciplina de Patologia e Dietoterapia e desde 2005 que é regente da referida unidade curricular.
Em 2006 foi nomeada diretora do Mestrado em Nutrição Clínica da FCNAUP. Promoveu, em conjunto com outros colegas, a criação do Doutoramento em Nutrição Clínica pela FCNAUP. Após ser aprovada a sua criação em 2011, foi nomeada diretora até 2016.
Desde 1983 que trabalha como nutricionista clínica no Hospital São João. Ela dá apoio em ambulatório nas consultas externas e no internamento a serviços como endocrinologia, pneumologia e cardiologia. Integra o Centro de Referência em Fibrose Cística, Centro de Referência Integrado de Tratamento Cirúrgico da Obesidade e Centro de Referência Integrado de Apneia do Sono.
De 1994 a 2011 foi nutricionista clínica do Centro de Hemodiálise da Prelada, Porto.
Desde o início da sua carreira profissional, publicou mais de 120 artigos (30 em periódicos internacionais) e mais de 400 resumos. Escreveu 3 livros e 10 capítulos de livros. Apresentou mais de 700 comunicações orais em reuniões científicas (320 por convite, 90 delas em reuniões internacionais). Coordenou a elaboração de dois manuais de dietas em 2006 e 2007 e um manual na área de Diabetes Mellitus direcionado a profissionais de saúde. Recebeu 42 prémios de investigação.
Integra a equipa de investigação do Grupo de Nefrologia e Infecciologia do INEB / i3S da Universidade do Porto. Desde 1995, esteve envolvida em 6 projetos de investigação internacionais nas áreas de nefrologia, ginecologia, endocrinologia, envelhecimento e ciências da nutrição.
Integra vários “grupos de trabalho”, nomeadamente o Grupo de Educação em Diabetes e o Grupo de Educação Terapêutica da Obesidade do Serviço de Endocrinologia do Centro Hospitalar Universitário São João, EPE Porto. A Sociedade Portuguesa de Endocrinologia, Diabetes e Metabolismo convidou-a a fazer parte do grupo de “Peritos” para Consenso em Nefropatia Diabética, foi eleita secretária do Grupo para o Estudo das Dislipidemias (GREDIS) até 2007, e faz parte do o Grupo de Estudos de Pesquisa em obesidade. Faz parte desde março de 2022 do Plano Estratégico de Cuidados Integrados para a Obesidade –subgrupo dos Cuidados Hospitalares.
É Presidente Sociedade Portuguesa de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação.

She concluded the Higher Course in Nutritionism in 1980 at the University of Porto. After the creation of the degree in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Porto, in 1987, she completed it in 1988.
She completed her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon in 2004.
In 2006 she completed her qualification in Clinical Nutrition (aggregation tests) at the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto (FCNAUP).
Since 1983, she has been teaching at FCNAUP. She has always taught in the discipline of Pathology and Diet Therapy and since 2005 she has been the head of that curricular unit.
In 2006 she was appointed director of the Masters in Clinical Nutrition at FCNAUP. She promoted, together with other colleagues, the creation of the PhD in Clinical Nutrition by FCNAUP. After its creation was approved in 2011, she was appointed director until 2016.
Since 1983, she has worked as a clinical nutritionist at Hospital São João. It provides outpatient support in outpatient and inpatient services such as endocrinology, pneumology and cardiology. It integrates the Cystic Fibrosis Reference Center, the Integrated Reference Center for the Surgical Treatment of Obesity and the Integrated Reference Center for Sleep Apnea.
From 1994 to 2011 she was a clinical nutritionist at the Prelada Hemodialysis Center, Porto.
Since the beginning of her professional career, she has published more than 120 articles (30 in international journals) and more than 400 abstracts. She has written 3 books and 10 book chapters. She has presented over 700 oral communications at scientific meetings (320 by invitation, 90 of them at international meetings). She coordinated the preparation of two diet manuals in 2006 and 2007 and a manual in the area of Diabetes Mellitus aimed at health professionals. She has received 42 research awards.
She is part of the research team of the Nephrology and Infectious Diseases Group of INEB / i3S of the University of Porto. Since 1995, she has been involved in 6 international research projects in the areas of nephrology, gynecology, endocrinology, aging and nutrition sciences.
It integrates several “working groups”, namely the Diabetes Education Group and the Obesity Therapeutic Education Group of the Endocrinology Service of Centro Hospitalar Universitário São João, EPE Porto. The Portuguese Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism invited her to be part of the group of “Experts” for the Consensus on Diabetic Nephropathy, she was elected secretary of the Group for the Study of Dyslipidemias (GREDIS) until 2007, and is part of the Group of Obesity Research Studies. Since March 2022, it has been part of the Strategic Plan for Integrated Care for Obesity – subgroup of Hospital Care.
She is President of the Portuguese Society of Nutrition and Food Sciences.

Elisabete Ramos licenciou-se em Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação em 1997, em 2001, concluiu o Mestrado em Saúde Pública e em 2006, o Doutoramento em Saúde Pública na Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade. É docente da área da Epidemiologia na Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do porto desde 2006. Além de lecionar no Mestrado integrado em Medicina, exerce a sua atividade docente maioritariamente nos mestrados de Saúde Pública, Educação para a Saúde e nos programas doutorais em Saúde Pública e Saúde Púbica Global. Tem desenvolvido trabalho de investigação em projetos nacionais e internacionais, essencialmente em epidemiologia nutricional e da obesidade, em particular para compreender o papel da distribuição da gordura corporal na ocorrência de fatores de risco cardio-metabólicos e o papel da inflamação sistémica como mediador dos efeitos da adiposidade. Do seu trabalho de investigação resultaram mais de 100 publicações científicas em revistas internacionais.

Elisabete Ramos graduated in Nutrition and Food Sciences in 1997, in 2001 she completed a Master’s Degree in Public Health and in 2006, a Doctorate in Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the University. He has been teaching in the area of Epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto since 2006. In addition to teaching in the Integrated Masters in Medicine, he exercises his teaching activity mainly in the Masters in Public Health, Health Education and in the doctoral programs in Public Health and Global Public Health. He has carried out research work in national and international projects, essentially in nutritional epidemiology and obesity, in particular to understand the role of body fat distribution in the occurrence of cardio-metabolic risk factors and the role of systemic inflammation as a mediator of the effects of adiposity. Her research work resulted in more than 100 scientific publications in international journals.
