O Dr. Giuseppe Russolillo Femenías é dietista-nutricionista e doutorado pela Universidade de Navarra. Nascido em Palma de Maiorca, estudou na Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Navarra e possui um mestrado europeu em Nutrição e Metabolismo da Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade de Navarra em Pamplona, onde vive e trabalha actualmente.

 

Em 1998 criou a Associação Profissional de Dietistas-Nutricionistas de Navarra, que em 2005 deu origem à primeira associação profissional em Espanha. O trabalho consistiu na acreditação do interesse público da profissão perante os poderes legislativos, revendo estudos científicos que demonstraram que a intervenção do dietista-nutricionista contribui para uma redução dos custos de saúde e melhora a saúde dos cidadãos.

 

Entre 2004 e 2013, assumiu a presidência da Associação Espanhola de Dietistas-Nutricionistas, trabalhando na promoção de associações profissionais noutras regiões autónomas e no desenvolvimento da profissão a nível nacional. Vale a pena destacar a sua comparência perante o Senado em 2005 e 2010 para apresentar as novas necessidades de recursos humanos e a incorporação do dietista-nutricionista no Sistema de Saúde, bem como a criação da lei do Conselho Geral em 2014.

 

Em 2012, juntou-se ao Conselho de Administração da Confederação Internacional de Associações Dietéticas (ICDA) e em 2019 fundou a Alianza Iberoamericana de Nutricionistas (Aliança Ibero-americana de Nutricionistas) juntamente com outros colegas.

 

No campo científico e académico, é autor de livros científicos e informativos e já deu mais de 100 palestras. Vale a pena mencionar a sua participação na elaboração das competências profissionais do dietista-nutricionista no quadro da primeira Conferência de Decanos. Entre 2005 e 2008 trabalhou também no desenvolvimento do grau universitário na regulamentação do quadro europeu do ensino superior.

 

Em 2008 estudou para um mestrado na Universidade de Navarra, onde obteve o seu doutoramento em 2016. No mesmo ano, realizou uma investigação sobre alimentação e sustentabilidade que levou à produção de um documentário sobre alimentação sustentável que foi apresentado no XVII Congresso Internacional de Dietética, um congresso ao qual teve a honra de presidir. Este trabalho deu-lhe a oportunidade de falar nas Nações Unidas (2017) e na Cimeira Social para o Clima (2019).

 

Em 2017 fundou com outros colegas a Academia Espanhola de Nutrição e Dietética, constituindo um corpo de académicos composto por 103 médicos e professores. Desde então, tem trabalhado na mais alta qualificação académica através da aprendizagem ao longo da vida, bem como no avanço da nutrição e dietética com base em provas, ética profissional e livre de conflitos de interesses.

 

Em 2017, começou a ensinar em várias universidades. Actualmente ensina Alimentação Hospitalar na Faculdade de Enfermagem e Alimentação e Cultura, Ética Profissional, Competências Culinárias e Dietética na Faculdade de Nutrição da Universidade das Ilhas Baleares.

 

Em 2019, e por voto de todos os países, ele assume a presidência mundial da ICDA, cargo que ocupa actualmente.

Dr. Giuseppe Russolillo Femenías, is a dietitian-nutritionist and doctor from the University of Navarra. A native of Palma de Mallorca, he studied at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Navarra, he has a European Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Metabolism from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra in Pamplona, ​​where he currently lives and works.

In 1998 he promoted the Professional Association of Dietitians-Nutritionists of Navarra, which in 2005 gave rise to the first professional association in Spain. The work consisted of accrediting before the legislative powers the public interest of the profession by reviewing scientific studies that showed that the intervention of the dietitian-nutritionist contributes to a reduction in health costs and improvement in the health of citizens.

Between 2004 and 2013, he assumed the presidency of the Spanish Association of Dieticians-Nutritionists, working on the promotion of professional associations in other autonomies and on the development of the profession at a national level. It is worth highlighting his appearance before the Senate in 2005 and 2010 to present the new needs for human resources and the incorporation of the dietitian-nutritionist in the Health System, in addition to the creation of the General Council law in 2014.

In 2012, he joined the Board of Directors of the International Confederation of Dietetic Associations (ICDA) and in 2019 he founded, together with other colleagues, the Ibero-American Alliance of Nutritionists.

In the scientific and academic field, he is the author of scientific and informative books and has given more than 100 conferences. It is worth mentioning his participation in the drafting of the professional competencies of the dietician-nutritionist in the framework of the first Conference of Deans.

Likewise, between 2005 and 2008 he worked on the development of the university degree in the regulation of the European framework for higher education. In 2008 he studied for a master’s degree at the University of Navarra, where he received his doctorate in 2016. In that same year, he carried out research on food and sustainability that led to the film production of a documentary on sustainable food that was presented at the XVII International Congress of Dietetics, a congress that he had the honor of presiding over. This work gave him the opportunity to speak before the United Nations (2017) and at the Social Summit for Climate (2019).

In 2017 he founded the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics with other colleagues, constituting a body of academics made up of 103 doctors and professors. Since then, he has been working on the highest academic qualification through lifelong learning, as well as on the advancement of nutrition and dietetics based on evidence, professional ethics and free of conflicts of interest.

In 2017 he began his teaching work at various universities. He is currently a professor of Hospital Food at the Faculty of Nursing and of Food and Culture, Professional Ethics, Culinary Skills and Dietetics at the Faculty of Nutrition of the University of the Balearic Islands.

In 2019, and by vote of all countries, he assumes the world presidency of ICDA, a position he currently holds.
